Rina Sawayama, née le 16 août 1990 à Niigata, est une autrice-compositrice-interprète et modèle nippo-britannique. Son premier mini-album, RINA, a été publié en 2017. Son premier album studio SAWAYAMA, lui, sort le 17 avril 2020.
Rina Sawayama est née à Niigata, au Japon et y habite jusqu'à l'âge de cinq ans lorsque sa famille déménage à Londres, en Angleterre, où elle grandit et y vit toujours. Tout en suivant des études de politique
Tokyo Love Hotel is the 11th track off Rina Sawayama's debut full-length album 'SAWAYAMA'. The track was written by Sawayama herself, Lauren Aquilina and Oscar Scheller along with production by frequent collaborator Clarence Clarity. The song is an 80s tinged synthpop jam about Tokyo being reduced to an aesthetic wonderland by Western tourists. Rina described the song as “getting frustrated by people having casual sex with Japanese culture”.
The song was debuted live for the first time at Moth Club London on March 30, 2019 before its studio version was released on SAWAYAMA.
