He Was So Unknown That People Confused His Vocals With Sampha But Giveon Was Quick To Let People Know It Was Him Who Appeared On The Track As It Eventually Landed Him His First Ever Entry On The Billboard Hot 100 At #14. On March 27th 2020 Giveon Released His Debut EP “TAKE TIME” And He Quickly Began To Make A Name For Himself To The Mainstream.

As Stated In His Interview With Apple That Is Exactly What This Song Is About. Being With Someone After A Breakup Is Easier Than Being Alone Even Though You Know It’s Not Going To Last Because You’re Still “scarred”.
He Said The Following About The Track In An Interview With Apple Music "“Scarred” Really Is Just Running Into Someone Fresh Off Of A Heartbreak Way Too Quick And Really Just Telling Them ‘I’m A Fan Of What This Is But It’s Not Going To Work Because The Breakup Is So Fresh And Because I Still Have Lingering Issues That Need To Be Resolved. But Selfishly We Could Still Do Everything We’re Doing.’ Because It’s Just I Don’t Know Sometimes It Feels Easier To Be In Something While You Try To Heal Versus Just Healing Staring At A Wall."

"“Scarred” really is just running into someone fresh off of a heartbreak way too quick and really just telling them, ‘I’m a fan of what this is, but it’s not going to work because the breakup is so fresh and because I still have lingering issues that need to be resolved.
