“Get You” sees Daniel Caesar reflecting on his life and past relationships with assistance from Colombian singer, Kali Uchis.
In an interview with Billboard, Daniel explains:
"I met a girl and got very involved. She brought things and feelings out of me that I didn’t know I had. ‘Get You' is a song of praise to a love I didn’t even feel I deserved at the time […] Being with someone you truly adore and being present enough in the moment that the world literally slows down and you ask yourself how did I stumble into this? I’m always shooting myself in the foot, but I’m in here."
“I don’t think it was a specific moment. It might have been having sex or something, but it was kind of just a period of time. I was sitting and thinking about my life at the time, and it just came out.”
"I was really broke, living with my girl at the time. It was a broke-and-in-love sort of thing. She’s like my muse, I guess. It was alive, good conversation, and good loving. We hung out every day. That’s what it was. We were just inseparable. I wrote a song about it."
“Get You” was certified 4x platinum by the RIAA on January 20, 2022.
