Il Prend Ensuite Le Chemin De L’Université De La Caroline Du Sud Pour Entreprendre Des Études En Informatiques. Il Se Cherche Néanmoins De Nouveaux Comparses Musicaux. Geiger Quant À Lui Joue De La Batterie Depuis Qu’il Est Tout Jeune Et Évolue Avec Le Groupe Celestian Slant. Le Groupe Réussit À Attirer L’attention De L’agence De Représentation Taxi Qui Est Située À Los Angeles. C’est Que La Formation Peut Participer À Un Showcase Dans La Cité Des Anges En Mars 2002. Cette Prestation Lui Permet De Signer Un Contrat Avec Earshot Une Filiale De Columbia Records. Le Groupe Retravaille Son Album « Cold » Qui Avait Été Lancé De Façon Indépendante. De Plus The Nothing Devient Crossfade Et L’album Change De Nom Pour Devenir Éponyme Lors De Son Lancement En Avril 2004.

Speaking With Songfacts About This Song In A 2011 Interview Vocalist Ed Sloan Explained That After Turning His Back On Music For A Year He Eventually Realized That He Had To Pull Himself Out Of His Depression And Let Everybody Know That He Was Still The Same Person He Used To Be. "Prove You Wrong" Came Out Of This Realization. Said Sloan "I Finally Got Out Of My Funk And Realized That I Was Bringing A Lot Of People Down So I Decided I'd Write A Song About It And Let Everybody Know That I Was Going To Prove Them Wrong And That Everything's Going To Be All Right In The End."
